LAPEL PIN BATTLE OF THE ATLANTIC

Product Code: 600134

Lasting from 1939 to 1945, the Battle of the Atlantic was the longest continuous battle of the Second World War. The northern Atlantic Ocean served as a vital means for Allied forces to bring troops and supplies between North America and Europe, and in an effort to cut these supply lines, German submarines and warships stalked the waters to sink Allied transport ships. Canada played a significant role in this battle, seeing its Navy grow from 6 ocean going ships at the beginning of the war to becoming one of the largest navies in the world with 434 commissioned vessels.

Eventual victory was costly, with more than 70,000 Allied servicemen and merchant mariners losing their lives, including approximately 4,400 from Canada and Newfoundland.

This high-quality enamel pin commemorates the Battle of the Atlantic and the soldiers who served. The pin is mounted on sturdy display laminated card stock.
